Twilight Stars Quilt 8/8 & 8/22 (Saturdays)

This 2-session class project with Twila consists of sewing 8 LeMoyne stars, set on point, with high contrast areas around the actual stars, and with border fabric for the setting triangles and outer borders. There are two options for the outer borders, Traditional and Modern.
At the end of these classes, you will be able to:
Sew accurate scant ¼” seams
Cut 45° angle quilt pieces
Sew perfect “Y” seams
Create fabric tubes for machine Appliqué
Class Supplies:
Participants receive 10% discount on supplies purchased at CBQS for class
Rotary cutter and rulers; 6” by 24” and 6” by 6” rulers (with 45-degree lines marked on the 6-inch square)
A “cleaned” sewing machine, with a NEW needle
“Normal” sewing supplies, i.e., thread, scissors, pins, extra sewing needles, etc.
Fine lead mechanical pencil
1/8 yard of each of 8 fabrics for the star points
1 yard of contrast fabric to highlight the area around stars and for the inner border “kicker”
Outer border and setting triangles: Traditional layout; 2 yards fabric, Modern Layout; 2 1/3 yards
5/16 wooden dowel for Modern Layout
½ yard contrasting fabric for Modern Layout
Fabric marker, or dressmaker wax or chalk marker, or heat erase pen for Modern Layout
½ yard fabric for binding
Backing; Traditional: 1 ¾ yards fabric Modern: 3 yards (backing will be pieced)
Batting; Traditional: crib-sized batting, Modern: 2 yards cotton or cotton blend batting
Class meets August 8 & 22

NOTE: Our classrooms are upstairs at City Blocks Quilt Shop. If you need assistance with taking your sewing machine up the stairs, check in with the shopkeeper volunteers.
